Growing seedlings

This morning we wrote for a new purpose that we haven't done before.  We learnt how to write an information report.  We did this as part of our inquiry process.  Later we got the opportunity to go and plant our seeds.  This is what some very eager gardeners had to say.

Saturday 29 October 2011

Welcome back to a new and very short term.  I would like to welcome our new students - Ethan, Dylan and Sophie who has started school recently.  We hope that your time at Reremoana school will be very special!

Inquiry
This term we are looking at our living world.  We have started looking at the book "The sunflower that went flop."  In writing our purpose was to write a recount on the book.  We now know that a recount means that you have to tell what happened.  We also got to illustrate our stories on Kidpix. Through this we discovered that we would now like to grow seedlings and we are in the process of learning what they will need to grow.  I will keep you updated with the process.  Don't forget about our special trip to the Botanical Gardens coming up in Week 7.

Writing in Room 15

n room 15 we were writing to describe.  We have learnt that we also write to an audience.  Here are some of our wonderful ideas that we had about our "Dads"

My Dad works at Fischer and Paykel Healthcare.  He has black and spiky hair.  He likes me because I help him.  He is 10 times taller than me.  I need to look up to him.  By Nicklaus

My Dad works in the Westfield shops.  He sells lots of chicken and stuff.  He has short black hair.  I like him and I like going with him to Westfield mall.  By Keanen

When my Dad sleeps with me I snuggle up to him.  He has straight spiky hair and spiky prickles on his chin.  I call him Papa
By Jocelyn

My Dad is taller than the roof.  He goes in his truck dropping big rocks off.  He loves me because I am doing good things.  By Dylan
When I stand next to Dad I jump but it is still no good.  He is bigger than the branches.  I like him because he keeps me warm, he holds me sooo tight!  By Pawan

My Dad is so tall he goes up to the sky.  He likes building with me and we play Monopoly.  I love him because he gives me hugs.  By Logan

I have a dad.  His hair looks like mine.  He helps me with word games on the computer.  My Dad loves me because he always says that to me.  By Cameron

My Dad has spiky black hair.  He is much bigger than me.  He likes to ride on a scooter and he lets me ride on it too.
By Jayden

My Dad likes drawing butterflies.  He is much bigger than me.  His hair is brown and straight.  He gives me cuddles. By Caitlin
My dad has little dots on his face.  He needs to shave them. We play pretend sword fighting together.  I love him because he is my Dad.  By  Tristan
